A Guide to Water Wise Land Development in the Comox Valley
Understand the Comox Valley's watershed management goals and learn about the range of initiatives that help get watershed health "right at the front end" including high level policy direction, specific development tools and tips on preparing a successful development application.
Showcased at an inter-regional form hosted by the Comox Valley in June 2014, and finalized in 2015, A Guide to Water-Wise Land Development in the Comox Valley (Guide) is an outcome of inter-governmental collaboration within the Comox Valley.
The Guide was developed as an educational tool. It communicates the story of why watershed-based rainwater management planning (as opposed to mitigate negative impacts on the watersheds they reside in), and the roles that each audience plays to achieve or maintain a healthy watershed. It is an orienting guide to the range of ongoing transformational work that is occurring to align regulators and industry best management practices into a "design with nature" approach.
The Guide is designed to be visually engaging, easy to read, with front counter 'branding' consistent to all four local government planning counters, and provide tips to applicants on how to prepare successful applications.
